New fruits!

Today we got a lemon tree, two different types of blueberries, some different herbs, peppers, and more strawberries! We tried some of the blueberries, and they tasted really good. :)

There seems to be a strange cat wandering about the garden... (aka Meeka).

 The lemon tree will go in one of the wine barrels and the blueberries in terra cotta pots.

Miniature Garden

Around Mother's Day, we went to the nursery and got a bunch of miniature plants like miniature ferns, trees, bushes, moss, and flowers. Later, we made an entire miniature garden... that fit inside a planter box! We made a patio and a path that leads to a miniature pond. It was so fun to make, and it looked adorable after we added the miniature doll house table and chairs.

 

Planting the Veggie Garden

Today we went to the nursery and bought more plants to add to our tomatoes and cucumbers, which are planted in half wine barrels (shown below). We planted borage, parsley, basil, and strawberries. The garden looks wonderful, and we can't wait for harvest time! Next we will finish the bamboo cages and trellises.

Over that last few years gophers and weeds ravaged our lawn, and we eventually gave up on it. When we decided to start a vegetable garden, the old defunct lawn turned into the perfect spot!

Welcome to our new blog!

We just got this blog finished (for now), and we will be posting pictures and updates from our garden! We have tomatoes, cucumbers, and basil. We will be getting strawberries and hopefully a lemon tree, too. Happy gardening! :)
